4:30am, in the morning, Early in the morning, I went to lakeshore to check the stillness of the water. The water was too choppy, so we packed up and drove about 8 miles to a bend in the Snake River for a better spot for the sunrise. On the way to the river, we came upon a newborn elk calf in the middle of the road.  It wobbled over the the jeep, and proceeded to lay down under the running board.  It appeared that the baby had decided the Jeep was his mom. I picked up the fawn and moved it to the side of the road.  Another man, called the wildlife ranger and explained the situation.  The ranger came to check out the fawn.
We went to the stillwater bend, and set up along the water's edge, and waited for the illumination. As soon as I started taking pictures, I heard clicks from the cameras of other photographers I had no idea were around me. We stayed around an hour enjoying the view of the Grand Tetons and the Snake River at sunrise.
Now, it's Pike's Peak or bust!  After 10 hours of driving across the continental divide, we made it to Colorado Springs.  Along the way, we saw many pronghorn antelope, two fox pups and a wolverine.
We made it to Colorado Springs in time to drive thru the Garden of the Gods.  It is amazing how the huge boulders are stacked on top of each other and how some lean over appearing to be falling. The drive was beautiful.  We had a great meal, and went back to our room to watch fireworks from our hotel room.
