The Columbia docked in Skagway about 3:30 and loaded quickly. We were underway in about an hour. After checking into our cabin we walked around the ship until we found the main dining room and we were promptly seated to a wonderful halibut dinner. Walking off the more than ample meal we then found there was a cafeteria, as well as a very nice piano lounge with a full bar and an observation lounge just forward of that. We sat there and listened to Amy the ships National Parks Naturalist explain about the glaciers we where passing. Each day was a new port and more wandering about on board. This ship even had a movie theater, video gaming room and gift shop. Most of the time was spent up on the deck looking for whales and eagles and such. In the port city of Ketchikan we hit pay dirt with eagle sightings, and whales where spotted not too far south of there. After 4 nights and meeting many new friends we pulled into Washington and said our goodbyes. Now we head off to the Grand Tetons.

I'm curious, why is there a tent city on a ship? From valmg, on Jul 10, 2010 at 03:53AM
