Watson Lake, Yukon, Canada
Friday, June 11, 2010

This has been a great day. Broke camp about 8 am, took the obligitory pOnce again hoto at mile 0 of the Alcan and hit the road. Fuel here ranges from 0.89 to 1.69 a liter. the drive has been breathtaking with green and snow vistasout every window. Pristine lakes and streams that are teaming with wildlife. Moose, deer, porcupine, bision, black bear and to top it off, just before getting to Watson Lake our first grizzly, though a yearling, it still charged and bit the car behind us. As I was shooting pics from inside the jeep the guy in the little car in back of us got out to snap a few of the bear. Now he eas a big guy but when thebear saw him you could see buffett in the little grizzlys eyes. He charged, the big man scurried into his little car as I hit the horn to draw the bear attention. All in all, the day was great.  We checked in to the Big Horn Hotel about 11 pm.  With the sun still up we carried out stuff in and enjoyed a very nice and big room. In the morning we will be heading to Whitehorse in the Yukon for our next rest bit.
